Update from all that has happened this term
With this term coming to an end in a few short weeks and finals breathing down my neck I thought that now was a good time to recap all the things that I have learned.
1. Nursing school is HARD, really hard. And it will make you cry, both from the shear difficulty of it and also from the frustration of how disorganized it is.
2. Doing IV’s really is as fun as I remember it.
3. The clothing you wear to the nursing home will permeate with the smell of dirty attends.
4. There are a bunch of people in nursing school that I dont think I would trust with taking care of my dogs.
5. This quarter is easier than the last, so I hope that the next quarter follows suite.
6. Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. Once an idiot, always an idiot.
7. When people thank a man in uniform for his service, it makes me cry. I cry even harder when that man is my husband.
8. Being a military wife is the hardest job you will ever love.
9. I hate concept maps.
10. I am lucky, blessed, and so ready for this quarter to be over. Two more weeks. Only two more weeks.
FYI 2
Professors that don’t lecture but spend their entire time talking about their personal lives make it very hard to study for their exams.
The end.

US Airways
I’m usually less than impressed with the way you get treated when you are at the airport, but I have to say that I was so impressed with the nice people at US Airways.
When I was dropping off the Hubby for his long deployment, we parked the car and headed into get him checked in. I figured that I would only be able to walk him to the security line and then I would have to leave.
So we get to the counter and Bill (the US air rep) thanks my husband (who is in full uniform) for his service, and then asks the standard info. As we are finishing up he asks if I would like to escort him to the gate! Of course I said “yes!”
So I hand Bill my brand shiny new military ID card and he gives me a ticket so I can escort him all the way to his gate and wait with him until he boards!
I don’t know how to thank Bill. That extra time meant so much to both of us.
The moral of the story… My family flys with US air!

Sending some love from Portland and wishes for my Mom.
We are in the greater Portland area today enjoying the sun and visiting with my Stepson!! Gosh is he a cutie pie! We were so excited to see him and the Hubby was so happy! We got tons of pictures…I will post one later.
My family is in need of some prayers. My mom spent a large part of this week In the ICU for a severe medication reaction. She is recovering but slowly. We could use all the warm wishes and prayers we can get. I really hope that she makes a full recovery.
Thanks everyone.

Changing your name, and when a Husband steps in.
But first some nursing school related drama. My school has a dosage exam that has to be passed every quarter. You can miss 3 questions and still pass. We just took the exam and although it was pretty easy I am (as usual) anxious to see my scores.
Clinicals are almost wrapped up for this quarter and I got assigned to Med/Surg and Mental Health for next quarter. That means that my fall quarter of next year 2009-2010 will be OB/Peds (Im so excited!!).
Im in the senioritis part of the quarter where you just dont want to do anything. Part of that is because Hubby is here and I want to spend as much time with him as I can. And part is because I am soooooo over having to change adult diapers. Im also really tired of seeing the complete lack of care that happens in the nursing homes. Its bordering on neglect!
Now for the changing my name part….It sure has been fun! Really! Hubby went with me to do all the name changes and it made the wait time go by fast! We laughed and giggled and tolk jokes the entire time! So everything is official, I am no longer a S.
And last…When the Husband steps in. My husband is a very even tempered man. Infact he is incredibly happy and laid back. I did see him step in and put his foot down the other day though, an act I am incredibly greatful for. He will not tolerate people treating me badly, annoying me, pestering me, or harrassing me. He made it stop. And now it is wonderfully quiet!
Thank you to everyone who has been passing on the warm wishes! I will get back to commenting in a few days!

Blogs I love…the crafty folks
There are two blogs that I read daily, that I look forward to daily. These two women are the most creative and incredible women that I have “met” through the blogosphere.
Alicia is a shoe fashionista, who scraps, stamps, makes cards, decorates and plans weddings! She is currently expecting her beautiful little baby Twinkle in a few short months. Dude, you are amazing. You have a sense of style and an artistic taste that I envy!
Katie is a knitting extrodionaire who even has her own yarn loom! Katie recently got an adorable little puppy who shares a name with my baby Harley! Katie, girlfriend..you are honest and your blogs are full of a type of creative energy that I only wish I could have!
Thank you both for bringing a little sunshine into my text book filled days!
Blogs I love….The RN’s
There are so many amazing nursing blogs circulating around the blogosphere that it was very difficult to narrow it down to just a few, but here goes:
Crasspollination you crack me up! I look forward to your postings because they make me laugh so hard it hurts!
Prisca, I love your blog! I love that you were in my shoes not so long ago. I love that I got to read how much you have grown into a real RN….Lady… you rock!
At your cervix is a L&D RN who is currently going to school to become a Midwife. I was keeping it a secret, but I kinda idolize her. I was so excited to have her comment on my blog that I nearly jumped out of my seat! So At your cervix, thank you for making my day!
Blogs I love…MOM’S
MOM…thats Mothers of Multiples to you! These MOMs have the best pictures, the best stories, and the best outlook. I look to their blogs when I need a smile. King Quads your baby pictures make me smile and can brighten up even the wettest PNW day! Twinsanity some of the stories you tell have me laughing for days!
And if those two blogs arent enough to make your day a little better, head over to the McNulty’s! Those four little darlings say the funniest things!
More to come!
