Wow, its starting to feel real again!!
How nursing school affects your marriage
Its not a shock to hear that while you are in school your marriage can start to deteriorate. But I think that nursing school is an entire different game. The pure stress and amount of time that you have to spend just to tred water can leave your marriage…bruised.
This doesnt have to be the way. Really. Among some of the advice I can give people starting out in nursing school is that you HAVE to make time for your family, especially your spouse. Even if that means spending an hour snuggling on the couch, you need to do it.
For those people who arent in school, this seems like a silly suggestion, but for those of us who have been busting our humps trying to survive….well, an hour is alot of time to spare.
My suggestion….DO IT. At all cost. The extra TLC for your partner is totally worth it. And the reward is that you are left rejuvenated and ready to face school again.
I miss my Hubby. I miss our hour.
Do you agree? What do you do to keep your marriage alive?
Preparing for year two and NCLEX
Last year at this time I was freaking out…..really….I was in a full panic! And this year it is so different. I am totally anxious to start back to school but for a different reason. This year, I just want it over.
I am trying to decide whether to take the NCELX immediately after graduation in June or if I should take the summer to study?
Does anyone have any input?

Do it yourself rectal temp
Patient comes in for possible heat stroke, or over-exposure to sun. The staff needs to get a VERY accurate temperature on the adult patient, meaning rectal temp.
Turns out the patient is a NURSE.
So what does she say?
“Go out of the room, I WILL do it MYSELF!”
The funniest part….she really did….and even wore a glove!
“oh and Im allergic to NSAIDS, I prefer Dilaudid”
If any of my readers truly are allergic to NSAIDS could you please email me?
It never fails to amaze me when I am sitting in triage and I hear a patient come in to the ED for chronic low back pain and theu preface their history by saying that they are allergic to NSAIDs. I dotnt know about everyone else but chronic painers make me nuts.
They are usually the ones wbo come in weekly, the ones I can register without needing their names, they are the ones who always have 15/10 pain, and the ones who are extremely quick to complain.
I cant help but roll my eyes when they say “allergic to NSAIDs”.
Hey maybe im allergic to them too, or atleast allergic to ED system abusers!!
Swimming kills your pedicure
The pedicure I got done last week looked gorgeous, no?
Well it was beautiful until I spent two days swimming. Now its nearly ruined! So i guess that leaves me no choice but to get it redone before vacation time right?
Another day at the gym
In preparation for an upcoming vacation I have been working out at the gym like crazy!! I mean, I gotta get myself swimsuit shorts Capris ready!!
Today I spent a few hours swimming and playing in the pool with L and her Hubby C! What a fun time we had! I forgot how nice it is to have a married couple to hang out with. I cant wait for The Hubby to come home so that we can go on double dates!!
I just finished my mid-term for my sociology class. What a blast…NOT!!
What the buzz is all about
studentrntiffany: what brings you to the ED today?
Man: I have a loud buzzin in my ear
Charge RN: sounds like tinnitus
—–4 hrs of waiting to be seen later—–
Man: hey look what they found ib my ear!!
Studentrntiffany: holy sh*t thats a BEE!
ChargeRN: so i guess thats what the buzz was all about!
Happy (Belated) Blogoversary!

Happy 1st Blogoversary!!
Although so much has happened in this last year much of that statement is still true. I am about to start my last year as a full time student, full time wife, and an on-call employee.
Happy Blogoversay everyone and thank you for sticking with me!
And then she broke her Vagina
Lady comes to ED via Ambulance after freak bicycle accident.
Lady- “Dr. I hurt so bad”
DR.- “What happened?”
Lady- “I think I broke my Hoo-Ha”
Dr- “?”
Nursing student- “She broke her VAGINA!”
Insert snickers from the entire rest of the nursing staff.
Makes my thighs ache
Swimming. It makes my thighs ache! A good friend Family Geez said that I need to hydrate more to prevent muscle aches. So what better way to hydrate than to be in a pool!! (Although there were plenty of small children and I avoided putting my mouth in the water!!)
My work out buddy and I spent a fun filled hour lap swimming and then we headed out for a girly date! What fun!! First lunch at Red Lobster then off to see the movie the Proposal.
The movie was fabulous! I cant wait for it to come out on DVD so that I can buy it! I havent laughed so hard in forever!!
I think it may be my new favorite movie!
What is your favorite movie?
Pampering with Potter
Today did not start out well. I mentioned yesterday that Kickboxing Man nearly killed me. Although my hunchback post was meant as a joke, I woke up this morning unable to even move!
Infact I had to cancel my Step Aerobics date because I was nust waaaaay too sore.
So instead of working out I am heading for some pampering. Im getting a pedicure and then heading to watch Harry Potter. Unfortunetly my friend would not agree to getting dressed up or bringing wands so I am forced to attend in regular clothes.
What is the craziest thing youve done in public?
The hunchback of B-town
Its been no secret that I have been taking kick boxing classes on the base. The instructor is this incredibly high energy man who works you so hars that you seriously think you might die.
After an invigorating 75 minute class, i am now walking with a limp and a shuffle. Watching me walk from ED room to room makes you imagine either The hunchback of Notre Dam or Igor.
“you rang Master?!”
