17 days of Thankful- Day 3

Today I am thankful for my education. There are many days when I complain about my school, the professors, the clinicals, the disorganization…etc. But the reality is that I am thankful for having the opportunity to experience college. Again with the current economic climate it is easy to forget that school is a priveledge not a right.

I love the nursing profession, from the mundane tasks to the papers, even the therapeutic conversation one, to the invasive tasks of IV starts and caths, and NG tubes all the way to the critical thinking and patient care. I love it all. I have really learned alot this last 1+ years, I have learned alot about compassion for others. I have learned that sometimes things just dont make sense. And I have learned the biggest “F” word ever, Flexibility.

I am still not entirely convinced that the way my program is running is the most effective manner to be teaching the program, but I have to say that I am learning so they must be doing something right.

Does this mean that I will stop complaining about the other things? No way. Those things still make me crazy, but I am incredibly thankful to be given the opportunity to experience them!
