13 weeks!! Second Trimester baby!!
How far along? 13weeks (Although the ultrasound says 13weeks 4 days)
Total weight gain/loss: +1, -3.5
Maternity clothes?: Im completley rocking the maternity clothes now. I have only three or four shirts that still fit. And it may be time to get new scrubs for clinicals. GASP!!
Stretch marks? None from baby
Sleep: Suddenly Im full of energy and a nap isnt needed, but when its time to call it a day Im dropping like a fly.
Best moment this week: Seeing the baby on the ultrasound. Having my husband be right there watching and see how excited he was. It was also so cool to see how much personality the baby has already and that he acts just like his daddy! (No we dont know the gender!)
Worst Moment this week: Having an idiot tell me that having this baby was a mistake. And the we should have planned this better. What people dont know is that we planned for this baby, prayed for this baby, and wanted this baby. We are thrilled to be lucky enough to get to be the parents of this little blessing.
Movement: Im feeling some flutters in my pelvis. Ive been feeling them for about two weeks, but now they are getting more obvious and more frequent.
Food cravings/aversions: Food is back to being my friend. Although Im still eating portions the size of a two years olds meal. Its just nice to be able to eat again.
Belly Button in or out?: In for a long time. I happen to have a freakishly deep belly button.
Gender: I definitly think its a boy again. Based on the attitude in the ultrasound. No matter how much we poked and prodded, the little Bean wouldnt stop sucking his thumb and move. Reminds me of his daddy (except the thumb sucking!)
What I miss: Chocolate. Im not handling chocolate much.
What I am looking forward to: Next OB appt on Tuesday!
Weekly Wisdom: Saying “the baby wants it” will really only get you so far!
Milestones: Buying the crib, bedding and some baby stuff without feeling like a fraud.
Symptoms: Excitement and amazement. I have most of my energy back! Im still having problems with my bowels (very common) and now I have a stuffy nose. Otherwise, Im happy!
Early morning love
Sometimes the first morning pictures are far from flattering, but they capture the love in our eyes! I miss him so much!!
Only a couple more days till he comes home!
Other traditions
Some things make me homesick, one thing in particular at this time of year. That thing is a smell, and a sound…combined they make up the holiday for me.
Cinnamon rolls and the noise of the mall. My family has a tradition of going to the mall every year on christmas eve and we sit and watch the crazy last minute shoppers.
This year is different. This year is the hustle and bustle of the in-laws household. Cousins comng over, family talking, and kids laughing. Lots of kids laughing! That has to be one of my favorite smells in the world.
And even with all the wonderful sounds and fabulous smells, I miss my family. I miss my puppies, and I totally miss the smells of my holiday traditions. Next year we will have to learn to integrate…..but we will be at NewHome, so I guess I will be tasked with ways of bringing both of our traditions into the house.
What are your holiday traditions?
Almost have my land legs back….
After spending 11 days at sea and loving the waves rolling back and forth, I am having some difficulty re-integrating into the regular land.
The Hubby swears that I will get my land legs back soon, I cant wait!
The cruise was so much fun, and if it werent for the BIG MOVE coming up then we would have booked another one. I strongly suggest a cruise, strongly!
This was on the beach at Cabo San Lucas….I miss it already!
Watching the sunset
There is just something magnificent about watching the sun set over the beach. A couple weeks ago while playing in San Diego, Hubby stopped and we ran off to the beach to watch the sunset.
After living in the Northwest for so long there are some smells that remind me of here, the smell after the rain, the smell of water nearby, etc. But after spending the last few weeks in San Diego I can say that there is a particular smell in the air when the sun goes down over the beach.
I think that the beach is my peaceful place. I couldnt imagine living away from it.
Enjoying life in the simplest terms
Yesterday was a perfect example of being thankful for the simple things. The hubby and I did some shopping, we got his new uniforms for work, some winter coats so we can go play in the snow, and then headed home. We spent the evening making dinner and then as I studied and wrote a paper I could hear him enthusiastically yelling at the players in ODST.
Just being close to him and going through the simple tasks of the day are amazing.
Today more clinicals and time to get the final things ready for our Mexican cruise!! Its less than a month away!! Yipppeeee
Its the little things that make me smile.
Today is my day off. And after pulling nearly 100 hours in two weeks, I needed a little pampering.
So on my way to visit my best gal pal, I saw a very promosing nail salon. I stopped and enjoyed nearly an hour of foot and calf massage! They even used parafin wax, it felt so good!!
Now I have relaxed muscles, sexy pink toes and a renewed attitude….all for $30!
What a great day off! And tomorrow its back to the grind!
